7 Days Rwanda Chimpanzee Trekking
Day 1: Arrival in Remarkable Rwanda
On arrival, you will be picked from the airport and you will be transferred to your hotel for the dinner and overnight stay.
Day 2: Transfer from Kigali to Nyungwe national park.
After heavy breakfast at your hotel in Kigali, our professional guide driver will pick you up and drive you to the city where you will do a Kigali city tour. Visit the Kigali Genocide Memorial, on your way you will also visit the traditional Rwanda King’s palace in Nyanza and also the Cultural Museum in Butare; later you will drive to Nyungwe National Park. This takes about 6-7 hours drive. Nyungwe has a wide variety of animal species where it contains thirteen different primate species, 275 bird species, 85 mammal species, 32 amphibian, and 38 reptile species. At your arrival, you will check-in at the lodge/ Hotel, where you will have dinner and all night stay.
Day 3: Chimpanzee Tracking and Canopy Walk
You will have breakfast early in the morning; later go to the park head office for a briefing. After the briefing with the game rangers, you will go for Chimpanzee tracking. You will see other primates like Angolan Columbus monkeys, golden monkeys, Red-tailed and blue monkeys among others. The trek takes about 3-5 hours. After the trek, you will go for lunch and then relax for a few hours. We will be in a position to take several photographs. At the end of the trek, we will head back for lunch at the lodge after which set out again we will also go to Canopy Walk (The Canopy Walk is the favorite activity for park visitors). It is one of those things you want to attempt before you die) and have a chance to view the other inhabitants of the forest like birds, reptiles, and butterflies. We shall decide to have an optional guided walk in the forest. During the hike, you will find other primates like vervet monkeys and baboons among others while Bird watchers will enjoy the various bird species here. After lunch a quick transfer to Nyungwe Forest Lodge for relaxation later dinner and the overnight.
Day 4: Transfer to Kigali
Following breakfast, you will drive from Nyungwe National Park which takes about 6-7 hours. Have lunch in Kigali upon arrival. Relaxation time.
Day 5: Drive Akagera National Park
After breakfast at your hotel, you will be picked and we will drive you to Akagera national park which takes about 2.5 hours, check-in at the Akagera game lodge where you will have your dinner and overnight stay. The Akagera National Park borders with Tanzania in the East. The plant life within this park is largely savannah, mountain, and swamp. It’s home to various animals and birds, and a very big lake called Ihema Lake.
Day 6: Wildlife Safaris drive and Sunset Boat Ride
Wake up early enough, have breakfast and later go for a game drive in the park. You might spot animals like elephants, buffaloes, lions, Maasai giraffe, gazelles, impala, baboons, oribi, zebra, topi, bush baby, leopard, and bushbuck while on the game drive. You will later go to the lodge, have lunch and after go for an afternoon boat cruise on Lake Ihema. While doing a boat cruise you will spot animals like hippos, crocodiles, and birds like the Shoe billed stock, herons, papyrus gonolek, ibis, sandpipers and jacanas among others. Dinner and overnight at the lodge.
Day 7: Kigali – Departure
Take breakfast and then be driven back to Kigali to proceed to local markets for memorials and souvenirs, later airport transfer for your outbound transfer.
