Dinner will be on your own account, and overnight will be at the hotel on a bed-and-breakfast basis.
After breakfast, depart Nairobi by road, driving north through the central highlands with a short stop at the equator in Nanyuki. The scenic drive offers stunning views of Mount Kenya on a clear day. You’ll arrive in Samburu in time for lunch at your lodge or camp. In the afternoon, enjoy your first game drive in the reserve, where elephants gather along the Ewaso Nyiro River and the rare Samburu Special Five — Grevy’s zebra, reticulated giraffe, Beisa oryx, Somali ostrich, and gerenuk — roam the semi-arid plains. Dinner and overnight at Samburu.
After an early breakfast, spend a full day exploring Samburu National Reserve. A picnic lunch will be carried to maximize your game viewing experience. Wildlife is abundant, from elephants and lions to leopards and cheetahs. The rugged scenery of Samburu, dotted with acacia trees and dramatic hills, provides a perfect backdrop for game drives. Birdwatching is also exceptional here, with over 450 species recorded. In the evening, return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive to Ol Pejeta Conservancy near Nanyuki. This private sanctuary is home to East Africa’s largest black rhino population and the last two remaining northern white rhinos in the world. You will also visit the Sweetwaters Chimpanzee Sanctuary, the only place in Kenya to see chimps. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game drive across the conservancy, where lions, elephants, buffalo, and rhinos are commonly spotted. Dinner and overnight at Ol Pejeta.
After breakfast, leave Ol Pejeta and drive south to Lake Naivasha in the Great Rift Valley. On arrival, you will enjoy a relaxing boat ride on the freshwater lake, famous for its hippos, birdlife, and scenic views. The trip continues with a guided walking safari at Crescent Island, where you can walk among giraffes, zebras, and antelopes in a predator-free environment. Dinner and overnight at a Lake Naivasha lodge.
After breakfast, depart for the world-famous Maasai Mara, driving through the Rift Valley to arrive in time for lunch at your camp or lodge. If traveling between July and October, you may witness the Great Wildebeest Migration as herds cross the Mara River. Dinner and overnight at your Maasai Mara camp or lodge.
After an early breakfast, spend a full day exploring the Maasai Mara. You will enjoy both morning and afternoon game drives, with a picnic lunch in the reserve to maximize wildlife viewing time. The Mara is home to the Big Five and a wide variety of other species, making it Kenya’s premier safari destination. Optional activities such as a Maasai cultural village visit or a hot air balloon safari at sunrise can be arranged at an extra cost. Return in the evening for dinner and overnight in the Mara.
After breakfast, enjoy a short early morning game drive before departing for Nairobi. You’ll arrive in the afternoon and be dropped off at your hotel or Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight home or onward travel.
Many people travelling to the African continent have questions about safety. Is Kenya safe to travel to? Our answer is clear: YES! Kenya is definitely a safe country to visit, especially for people going on organised game drives with private guides as you will do with us. There are definitely some places to avoid in big cities like Nairobi or Mombasa, but – as with all big cities – by taking some precautions, you’ll be fine. We advise, for example, to leave the hotel at night with a driver and not to go strolling around alone. Also be aware not to wear big and visible jewellery, and keep an eye on your valuables.
This is an exclusive, private safari that allows you to travel at your own pace. This trip is made just for you, exactly as you want it! And lastly, knowing your wishes, your personal guide will give you the right tips, turning your trip into an unforgettable experience.
