0645hrs: Scenery Adventures driver will meet you at your Nairobi pick-up point. Depart by 0700hrs for a scenic 4-hour drive through the Great Rift Valley to Lake Nakuru National Park. Arrive around 1100hrs for an enroute game drive as you head to your lodge. Check in, enjoy lunch, and relax before setting out on an evening game drive until dusk. Expect to spot rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, zebras, and flocks of flamingos along the lake shores. Dinner and overnight at your lodge.
Wake up at 0600hrs for breakfast, check out of the lodge, and depart by 0700hrs for a 5-hour drive to Maasai Mara. Enjoy scenic views of the Rift Valley and the Kenyan countryside along the way. Arrive at your camp/lodge in time for lunch. After a short rest, head out for an evening game drive across the savannah plains, searching for lions, elephants, and cheetahs. Dinner and overnight at the camp/lodge.
Optional: Hot Air Balloon Safari at 0600hrs (USD 450 per person), followed by a champagne bush breakfast on landing. After breakfast, spend a full day exploring Maasai Mara with picnic lunch. The reserve is rich with wildlife: lions, elephants, giraffes, gazelles, zebras, cheetahs, leopards, and rhinos. From July–September, witness the Great Migration, when millions of wildebeests and zebras cross the Mara River in dramatic scenes. You’ll also see members of the Maasai community around the park borders—colorful warriors, herders, and elders keeping traditions alive. Dinner and overnight at your camp/lodge.
After breakfast, relax and check out of the lodge/camp by 1000hrs. On your return drive to Nairobi, enjoy a stopover in Narok Town, where you can explore vibrant Maasai markets and buy handicrafts. Have lunch in Narok before proceeding to Nairobi. Arrive in the afternoon for drop-off at your hotel or airport for onward travel.
This safari combines two diverse ecosystems. In Lake Nakuru National Park, expect sightings of white and black rhinos, Rothschild giraffes, buffaloes, zebras, baboons, and a wide variety of bird species including flamingos and pelicans. In the Maasai Mara, you will encounter the Big Five (lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo, and rhino), along with cheetahs, giraffes, hippos, crocodiles, and seasonal wildebeest migrations (July–October).
Nairobi to Lake Nakuru: Approx. 4 hours by road through the scenic Rift Valley. Lake Nakuru to Maasai Mara: Approx. 5 hours, with views of rolling plains and local farmlands. Maasai Mara to Nairobi: Around 5–6 hours depending on traffic and road conditions. While the drives are long, they are very scenic, with stopovers at viewpoints, small towns, and local markets.
Accommodation is typically in safari lodges or tented camps, ranging from mid-range to luxury options depending on your preference and budget. All are full board (breakfast, lunch, and dinner included) and located either inside the parks or just outside the gates, ensuring quick access to game drives.
